About Sandwich Generation Month

Sandwich Generation Month is an annual commemoration and celebration of the dedication, patience and caring of adults who are part of the sandwich generation – those caring for their children as well as their own aging parents.

The annual recognition of Sandwich Generation Month is every July, with organizations and communities throughout the United States holding events to raise awareness of and provide support for members of the sandwich generation. Free Planner’s Toolkits are available for download, so hospitals, advocacy groups, etc. can plan their own events.

The parent organization of Sandwich Generation Month is the Sandwich Generation Resource Group. Funding and administrative support for the Sandwich Generation Month website and presented materials are provided by GRISWOLD SPECIAL CARE, the world’s oldest, multinational, non-medical home care organization.

New to the Sandwich Generation Month website is Sandwich Generation Connections, a group of resources for family members and caregivers of older adults and those living with disabilities.

The first segment of Sandwich Generation Connections to debut is the Personal Living Equipment Donor Closet listing and locator. If you, or someone you love, are in need of equipment such as wheelchairs, crutches, transfer boards, hospital beds, or other such durable medical equipment, you can find a Donor Closet in your area from which you may borrow exactly what you need! There is also information on the registry for those seeking to donate your own used equipment, so others may benefit from your generosity.

Host a Quilt

National Sponsor of Sandwich Generation Month, GRISWOLD SPECIAL CARE, announces availability of their 25^th Anniversary Commemorative Quilts for display in your community. Each quilt is comprised of patches lovingly handmade by families, caregivers, Sandwich Generation members, and clients of home care.

Theses quilts serve as a tribute to the Sandwich Generation, clients, caregivers, directors, client families, referral sources and others associated with home care, as well as a reminder to all Americans of the impact caregiving has had upon the lives of older adults and those living with disabilities. The quilts also represent the warmth, security and peace of mind that quality home care provides, to all of those who will be able to see them on display as they tour the nation on loan to major hospitals, assisted living facilities, physician’s offices and other organizations.
